Star Wars Vintage X-Wing Restoration - Part 2 - Kenner 1978

RetroBlasting's epic X-Wing restoration continues!

RETROBRITE RECIPE

  • 1 pint (2 cups) Hydrogen peroxide 40 vol (clear liquid, not creme)
  • 2 heaping Tablespoons Xanthan Gum
  • 1 level teaspoon Glycerine
  • 1/4 teaspoon OxyClean (mixed into 1 teaspoon hot water) 

Combine Hydrogen Peroxide and Xanthan gum in blender and mix for 5 sec. Add glycerine. Mix 5 seconds. Rest mixture for 1-5 min. Mix again for 5 sec. This base can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container. When you are ready to use, stir or mix in the OxyClean. This activates the solution, thus it must be used immediately. Apply to plastic surface you want to whiten, masking off any areas you don't want to affect. Place under a UV light and check every few hours. The process can take anywhere from 2-12 hours.
